There is a myth that all Pit Bulls eventually turn on their owners. Statistics show how incredibly rare it is for any dog to turn on anyone, let alone for one specific type of dog to turn on their owners. While some make broader claims about the breeds of dog most responsible for fatal bites, the data shows that breed isn’t actually a factor.

Pitbulls are often characterized as a more aggressive breed of dog. A resource from Best Friends Animal Society reports that aggression is not a breed characteristic or personality trait, and it is not specific to any one breed of dog.
